What We Do
Barefoot Edu Foundation (Barefoot) is a non-profit organization founded in 2018, dedicated to improving grassroots education by building leadership capacity among principals, teachers, and students to lead change. At Barefoot, we believe that every child deserves a strong foundation to think, dream, feel, and thrive.
We believe that the key to transforming education is by empowering and enabling school leaders at all levels. We approach educational leadership building through three core strategies that are deeply rooted in our commitment to improving education at the grassroots level :
- Deeply Rooted: Direct Implementation
- Strong Trunks: Amplifying Existing Leadership
- Extensive Branches: Scaling School Leadership
We directly work with teachers and students such that preschools and school ACE: (i.e provide quality Academics, Co-curricular, Equitable education). Through the Uttarang program we enable preschool teachers to transform their preschools into sensitive and playful learning spaces. Through the Meaningful Education department, we build 21st century skills of students through sports and co-curricular platforms.
We work with school principals and teacher leaders to bring disruptive transformation to schools. The Lantern schools are our model schools that set the standard of quality for under-resourced schools. Rehnuma is an incubator for school principals who push the boundaries of quality education through an entrepreneurial and empathetic approach to school leadership.
We energize ecosystems through a network of empowered educational leaders. We partner with NGOs and governments at the district and state levels to build the capacity of educators and officials to coach school principals. Our goal is to build a network of 300,000 school leaders by 2025, creating a powerful force for meaningful change in education.
